D4 Million Dalasi Project For Radio Basse - Reveals GRTS Boss Momodou Sanyang

A D4Million dalasi project has been unveiled to revamp Radio Basse, which is an affiliate of Radio Gambia, the country’s main state broadcasting corporation, the Freedom Newspaper has been reliably informed. The disclosure was made by Momodou Sanyang, the Director General of The Gambia Radio and Television Services, during a recent visit to Basse, which was aimed among other things: assessing the situation of radio, staff conditions, and other logistical issues.

Accompanied by a high powered delegation, the GRTS boss toured the area. He said they intend to expand the radio’s transmission capacity, and to built ten additional bedrooms for its workers. The GRTS chief said the D4 Million Dalasi project would help to expand Radio Basse’s coverage. He said the radio’s signals would go as far as Mali, and other neighboring countries in the region. He says people living in the said countries would be able to listen Radio Basse.

For his part, Serign Modou Faye, a senior staffer of Radio Gambia commented on the problems facing Radio Basse. He says with the said new project, capacity building would be enhanced. He adds that it would also improve staff morale, and radio programming.

The Board chairman of GRTS, Fatou Mbye stressed the need for  people to do on the job training to help them before aspiring for other positions. "We need to help each other and develop each other,." She said.
