Mr. Joof would be contacted for an official resignation letter. Additionally, the new president would contact some inactive executive members for better execution of duties and for more participation in the Association's activities.

Alh. Sellou said his initial plan would be for a more proactive and less bureaucratic organization. He said he wanted to "make things simple."

Other executive members at the meeting each took the time to assess themselves in their respective capacities. Pa Samba Johm said he wished he had done more than he had in his role as PRO. He said his available time had been limited due to the fact that he belongs to several other organizations in his home state of Michigan, USA. But he said he would do better this time, and was looking forward to a wonderful working relationship with the new president.

The Fundraising Officer Alh. Saibo Drammeh lamented that he had not been able so far to bring all his ideas into fruition. He said he had big dreams and high hopes for the Basse Association. He regretted that he had not been able to translate much of them into action. He promised to change course in his membership-recruitment strategies and fundraising ideas. He said he was looking forward to organize a Basse Reunion in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The meeting concurred that the Secretary General MB Krubally and his team had been doing a wonderful job. Wuyeh Yorro Sanyang urged for a faster delivery of meeting minutes. The Sports and Cultural Affairs Officer Ousainou Krubally also received high marks for good performance.

Requests
Ousainou told the meeting that the Basse Divisional team was getting prepared for the national league, and he was soliciting funds from the Basse Association to enable the regional team meet some of its financial undertakings. He said the Central Government, through its sporting body, had promised to provide some financial support, but he was nonetheless seeking some assistance for the team.

Ousainou also relayed a message from the Basse central mosque elders by way of BA Project Manager Dawda Sankareh that they needed some financial help to repair the leaking in the roof of the mosque. The roof has been leaking year after year; when it rains, some water seep through the roof and into the mosque house. The elders are working towards a tiled roof instead.

To that effect, Alh. Sellou has been able to raise about 2,500 euros from within his community in Deventer, The Netherlands. Ousainou Krubally has raised about 400 euros, too. The Basse Association has, with immediate effect, started a fundraising campaign for the Basse central mosque. Wuyeh Yorro Sanyang has volunteered to collect donations from the BA membership and other Basserians in the US. He could be contacted on 808-368-6431 and at: sanyangk@yahoo.com

By May 15, 2011, and before the rains start in earnest, the funds are expected to be released to the Basse central mosque committee. (A note to prospective donors.)
