Fire ravages Gamtel’s Basse staff residence

The residence of the staff of Gamtel Basse branch Tuesday evening burnt into ashes by a fire incident. The cause of the fire which is yet to be established burned down the whole household materials.

Dawda Jallow, the regional manager of Gamtel Basse branch who spoke to the Daily Observer shortly after the incident said he lost everything in the house ranging from money, documents, furniture among other valuable items during the three hours fire incident. He said the money burnt is estimated is over D13, 000 but added that no one was hurt as at the time of the incident, his family members were out of the premises.

While commending the Fire and Rescue Services and the community for their timely intervention, Jallow quickly announced that the incident did not affect operations in the branch.

Alhaji Omar Khan, the governor of the region expressed sympathy to the affected family, while describing the incident as catastrophic. He used the opportunity to warn the people to be mindful of fire especially during this time of the year.

Famara Jammeh, the divisional fire officer also expressed sympathy to the Gamtel regional manager and family for the loss of their valuable household items adding, that investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.
