As Former Alkalo Reinstated

The long standing political crisis in the village of Manneh Kunda in the Upper River Region has been resolved confirmed sources told the point yesterday.

It could be recalled that during the last National Assembly election supporters of the APRC candidate, Momodou Selou Bah, and Saiba Sanyang of UDP clashed during campaign, of which the matter ended up in the courts.

Speaking to the point yesterday, Malafi Sanyang, Chairman of the Manneh Kunda Village Development Committee, confirmed the veracity of the story. He revealed that the former Alkalo Lasana Manneh has also been reinstated. Alkalo Manneh readers would recall, lost his job as a result of the said political crisis.

According to Mr. Sanyang, the political misunderstanding in the village has finally been resolved. To mark the end of the disturbing crisis, the villagers came out in their large numbers last Sunday to clean the village. The exercise, according to Mr. Sanyang, was meant to bring the village people together to bury their individual and political differences.

“We have realised the need to reconcile and work together for the development of our village,”he said. Politics, he added, is a seasonal thing and people should not allow it to divide them.

According to Chairman Sanyang, the villagers are today, more than ever before, united.

He said they have put aside their political differences in the interest of peace and national development.

“The massive turnout today is a clear indication that people are indeed cooperated,” he said.

In conclusion, Mr. Sanyang used the occasion to call on other villages that also have alike political problems to emulate the people of Manneh Kunda.
