Basse community commended

Muhammed S. Jallow, the deputy governor of Upper River Region (URR) and Modou Geng, the regional programme officer of the National Environment Agency in  URR, last Saturday, expressed positive impression and delight over the large turn out by the community of Basse during its monthly clean-up exercise.

Speaking to our reporter during the clean-up exercise, Muhammed S. Jallow spoke on the significance of the exercise and revealed that it was initiated by President Jammeh. He finally called on the people of URR to take the initiative seriously as it is, he noted, very relevant to nation building. For His part, Modou Geng, NEA’s regional programme officer in URR, said people should always keep their environment clean and reminding them that the anti-littering law is there for environmental offenders.

During the exercise, the GRTS Fan’s Club also embarked on road rehabilitation along the Mansanjang Highway. Speaking to the Daily Observer during the exercise, Kaddijatou Juldeh, the president of the Fan’s Club, outlined that the exercise was part of the set-setal (clean-up exercise) and called on the people of URR to always participat in it.
