Basse Youth Association In The Diaspora Donates To Schools In URR

The Basse Youth Association (INC) in the Diaspora has presented a donation of cash amounting to over eight thousand and four hundred dalasis (D8400) to three Lower Basic Schools in the Upper River Region at a ceremony held at St. Joseph school grounds. The principal of Numuyel Lower Basic School , Mr. Michael Hamadi Secka served as the chairman of the occasion. He welcomed the gathering and commended the association for the donation. He added that such a gesture by natives of the region is a clear indication that they are ready to contribute their quota to the provision of quality education. He thanked them for complementing the support of other philanthropists in the same area. In his welcoming remarks the principal of the school Mr. Mendy thanked the donors and underscored the importance of the support the school has received from the association.
 

He pointed out that the donation could not have come at a time better than now, when the school he said is facing some challenges such as inadequate chairs and poor fencing. Speaking on behalf of the association Mr. Momodou Sellu Jallow assured the authorities in the area that his association will live up to expectation. The director of education in URR Madam Cole expressed happiness for the gesture.
She thanked the association on behalf of her Ministry for giving back to their country and urged the students to make the best use of the opportunities available to them.
In his closing remarks, the Governor of URR Omar Khan indicated that education is important as far as government’s policy is concerned. He also urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the donation, while urging the students to take their education seriously.
