CDDP on poverty alleviation campaign in URR

The Community Driven Development Project (CDDP) recently presented four new tractors to three wards and one community in URR as part of its struggle in the fight against poverty, at a presentation ceremony held at Basse Area Council in Basse Upper River Region (URR).

The beneficiary wards included Sabi, Sutukonding, Dampha Kunda and Kabakama Village.Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Omar Sompo Ceesay, chairman Basse Area Council, commended CDDP and the Gambian leader for their enormous contribution in the agricultural sector noting that such an initiative will no doubt enhance food self-sufficiency.

He urged the beneficiaries to manage the tractors efficiently so that they can serve   them longer.For his part, Njaka Khan, facilitator and coordinator of CDDP in URR, highlighted the aims and objectives of CDDP. According to him, CDDP has come esssentially to eradicate poverty at the community level.Alasana Minteh, a senior CDDP officer from Mansakonko, also spoke on CDDP's resolve in collaboration with The World  Bank and the government of The Gambia to reducing poverty at the grass root level.
